Jeanerette citizens join to feed the community

- Rays of sunshine streamed down as prayers of thanksgiving and blessing were spoken over the ribbon cutting for Jeanerette’s newest eatery, The Snack Shack. The new business is in walking distance from King Joseph Park on Martin Luther King Boulevard, the owners are looking forward to feeding the community. In addition to pastor friends’ prayers, political leaders also offered support. From left are Rev. Carroll R. Crofton, owner Susan Johnson, Alderwoman-Elect Charlene Moore, owner Rev. Wilfred J. Johnson Sr., Parish Councilman Brian Napier and Mayor-Elect, Carol ‘Bro Carol’ Bourgeois Jr.
There shouldn’t be a single grumbling belly in Jeanerette today.
A group of organizations, businesses and individuals has come together to provide 400 free meals to the community this afternoon. The Snack Shack is hoping to feed the town starting at noon and going until the food is gone.

Contributors to the event include A New Chapter Push, Iberia Christian Ministerial Federation, Little Zorah Baptist Church, Church At Philadelphia, Kingdom Of God, St. Mark Baptist Church, Mac’s Sugar City Market, and Iberia Parish District 12 Councilwoman Lady Fontenette Brown.
Only one free plate lunch allowed per person, with no exceptions.
