How do you support local businesses?

I got an answer for You Mr. Editor.

I wanted to buy a new refrigerator and stove. I could have gone to Lowe’s, probably get free shipping and lower price. Didn’t go that route. Went to A & A Appliance and bought the new appliances there, just so I could buy local. Probably higher price and I know I paid a substantial shipping charge but I DID buy local.
