LOREAUVILLE — When you ask Loreauville senior and two-way player Bronson Louviere which of the position on offensive tackle or linebacker that he prefers, he quickly tells you he likes the tackle position.
Why he prefers offense to defense is the cool response.
“I like putting defenders on their butts,” Louviere said with a smile.
And he does that quite often in the Tiger offense.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound, three-year starter has been putting defenders on their backsides for a while and the results have shown, especially last year, when Loreauville advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 2A playoffs.
Now that his last prep football season nears, he’s looking forward to it being special, starting with a solid spring outing.
“It was a pretty good spring,” Louviere said. “We learned a lot and had some other guys step up for us.”
Being a senior member of the team and a long time starter for the Tigers has also been a great experience/
“It’s been a long ride,” he said. “By my sophomore year I was starting on offense and rotating in on defense and I learned that I had to get a lot stronger to compete.
“So I went through and conditioning and I got stronger.”
Louviere said that he’s expecting that Loreauville will surprise a lot of people this year.
“People are doubting us because we lost a whole lot of people,” he said. “But we have a lot of guys that are going to step up thjs year and we’re going to be good.”
Louviere’s favorite play from last year was against Catholic High, when as a defender he was credited with a TFL or tackle for loss.
“They did a little end around and I got the running back in the backfield for a loss,” Louviere said.
It’s something he hopes to go a lot more of this year.
