The Iberia Medical Center Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday evening to consider a full slate of capital improvements that are on the way for the hospital, even as the administration and staff continue to fight the ongoing Delta variant COVID-19 surge.

Three of the proposals are at the stage where Chief Operating Officer Shane Myers is seeking approval to bring the projects out for bidding. Those include the build-out of the hospital’s Family Medical Center, the construction of an Infusion Center, and an upgrade to the campus’ electrical infrastructure.

The board will also consider a request for capital funds for the air handling units at the North Campus, the former Dauterive Hospital.

The projects are coming at the tail end of a building year for the hospital, which has already seen the replacement of large portions of the roofs of the buildings, enhancements to the emergency generators, the addition of dozens of COVID-19 negative pressure rooms and other new additions and enhancements to the 60-year-old facility.
