Irene Dugas

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Irene LeBlanc Dugas, 97, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Rev. Nathan Comeaux will serve as the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Dugas was born on July 5, 1924, in Iberia Parish to the late Etis and Eleda Delcambre LeBlanc. She passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at Belle Teche Nursing Home.

She is survived by her daughter June Hebert Gachassin of New Iberia; her stepdaughter Jodie Dugas McHugh and husband David of Loreauville; five grandchildren, Carla Dugas, Todd Gachassin, Richard Gachassin, Rod McHugh and Christina McHugh; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Dalton Hebert; her second husband, Leonard Dugas; and two sisters, Ruby Barras and Odette Labit.

Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home for the care, love and support shown to Mrs. Irene over the last seven years.
