515 Daigre St.
The rundown
This house on Daigre Street suffered internal and external damage from a fire in 2016, and little has been done with it since.
The issues
During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Property Inspector Jimmy Landry said the bare minimum needed to get the house off the property standards list would include siding repairs, window repairs, door repairs and possibly even roof repairs.
The response
Blake Delcambre, owner of the property, appeared before the City Council Tuesday, and said that he had not even know the structure could be demolished until last month. Delcambre said he was willing to make the necessary repairs to the structure, but would soon be put on extended work leave so a definite timeline wasn’t possible.
What’s next?
After lengthy discussion, the council voted to revisit the property in 30 days to ensure that a permit was obtained for repairs and the windows were boarded. If the progress is made, council members indicated they would wait until Delcambre returns and has time to make the necessary repairs.
