The Iberia Parish School Board will vote to reapportion the 14 districts that make up the Iberia Parish School District at Wednesday’s meeting.
Although the districts will maintain the same number if approved, changes in apportionment were necessary after the results of the 2020 Census. The board is required to maintain a balanced apportionment for each district, which required changes to some districts due to increased population in some areas and decreased population in others.

If approved, the board will authorize the demographer to submit the plan to the state of Louisiana for review and implementation.
In other business the board will consider a recommendation for an allocation from 10 percent of the half cent sales tax distribution to schools and take appropriate action.
The allocation would allocate $60 per student for the 2023 school year for a total distribution of $688,860. The allocation is $4 more per student, or $22,124 more in comparison to the previous fiscal year.
The recommendation is based on a student population count that is 425 less than the previous year and would leave an unobligated balance reserve of $23,305.
The meeting takes place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the IPSB’s administrative office on Jane Street.
