The rundown
This house is located on a dead end off Cherokee Street and is located next to another house currently that has been considered for demolition by the New Iberia City Council.

The issues
New Iberia Property Inspector Jimmy Landry said in July that this house has several structural issues, including several portions of the house being in a dilapidated condition and the porch falling off the structure. Several windows are also broken, and Landry said neighbors had been complaining about the house.
The response
The City Council held a public hearing in early December where the owners of the house could present plans for repairs to the council instead of facing demolition. However, no one showed up to the hearing and District 5 Councilwoman Deedy Johnson-Reid recommended the house be demolished.
What’s next?
The house is currently on the demolition list for the city of New Iberia, and is planned to be taken down.
