The New Iberia Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Leroy Lenwood Jr. on several charges relating to a shooting on Friday on the 700 block of Mississippi Street.

Officers in the uniformed patrol division responded to a call about a shooting that injured two women, one of whom was later released from a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other of whom was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second shooting victim is in stable but critical condition, according to a report from the NIPD.

Lenwood is wanted on two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, three counts of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
