- This house on 811 Edna St. may soon be getting repairs after pressure from the New Iberia City Council.
811 Edna Street
The rundown
This house is one of two properties on Edna Street that have been up for review by New Iberia’s city government. After issuing a list of needed repairs to the owners, progress seems to be slowly beginning.
The issues
Earlier this year, this blighted property was sold on CivicSource by the city of New Iberia and purchased by a company. The council agreed last year that repairs were needed to get the structure up to par with city standards.
The response
The scope of work was sent to the appropriate parties late last year. The New Iberia City Council took up the issue at Tuesday’s council meeting, where Property Inspector Jimmy Landry said a permit had been issued in December.
What’s next?
Over the past month, repairs have begun on the house. Landry said some of the siding issues were beginning to be fixed and other repairs were occurring. After a recommendation to revisit the property in 30 days, the council voted and will once again review it in March.
