A private graveside service will be conducted for the immediate family of Charles A. Lewis, 76, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Freetown. He departed this life at 9:02 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at his residence following a brief illness.
Charles Allen Lewis, a native and resident of New Iberia, was born on February 4, 1945, to the late Daniel Lewis Sr. and the late Jessie Lee Chassion.
Charles was a 1963 graduate of Jonas Henderson High school where he completed his education at the top of his class. He then went on to Southern University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture. He later attended Ruthless University where he received a Masters of Science in Horticulture.
He joined the United States Army and was a 2nd lieutenant. He later moved to Germany as well as California, where he worked as a computer specialist.
He is survived by one brother, Wilbert Chassion of Hepazibah, Georgia; one nephew, Keith Allen Lewis of New Iberia; one great-niece Taesia Shello of Baton Rouge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Nathan Antoine; and two sisters Georgia Ann Lewis and Sheila Antoine.
