Broussard to be sworn in as parish councilman

A new Iberia Parish Councilman will be sworn in during today’s regular meeting.
WThe council may also choose to go into executive session to discuss pending litigation titled “The American Legion, Department of Louisiana vs. Iberia Parish Government.”
In other business, the council will vote to authorize the awarding of contracts for property and liability insurances with various agencies as recommended by the parish administration.
THe council will vote to authorize the renewal of group health insurance benefits with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Louisiana, dental benefits with Guardian and life insurance benefits with Dearborn Life.
Another resolution will approve M.A. Patout and Son for participation in the Louisiana Industrial Tax Exemption Program.
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to install No Parking signs along Admiral Doyle Drive before and after the entrances of Fletcher Funeral Home due to safety concerns caused by parked vehicles blocking the view of traffic will be voted on as well.
The meeting takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Iberia Parish Courthouse.
