DELCAMBRE — A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Delores Lavergne Desor–meaux, 73, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre. Fr. Buddy Breaux will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia on Tuesday. A Rosary will be prayed by the Men’s Rosary Group on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday until the service time.

A native of Carencro and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Desormeaux passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, at her daughters residence surrounded by her family.

Delores was a kind and loving woman who cherished her family and devoted herself to the Lord. She was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre. Delores read from the bible and prayed the Rosary every day without fail. She was even proud to serve as a members of the St. Ann’s Alter Society.

Delores also enjoyed sewing, cooking and eating out. Above all, her greatest love was the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was what made her heart the happiest. A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, Delores will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Laurie Segura (James), Terry Desormeaux (Stephanie), Amy Delcambre (Quinn), Steven Desormeaux (Jenee), and Spencer Desormeaux (Brooksie); grandchildren Natalie Broussard (Brody), Drake Segura, Cole Desormeaux, Micah Desormeaux, Grace Desormeaux, Presley Delcambre, Mavrik Delcambre, Mackenzee Desormeaux, Seth Desormeaux, Emma Desormeaux, Charlie Desormeaux and Riley Desormeaux; great-grandchild Dawson Broussard; and brother Edward Lavergne (Hazel).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Desormeaux; parents Alexander and Aimee Savoie Lavergne; and sisters Jeanelle Albert and Joyce Falgout.

Pallbearers will be Terry Desormeaux, Steven Desormeaux, Spencer Desormeaux, James Segura, Quinn Delcambre and Drake Segura.

Honorary pallbearers will be her loving grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Gift bearers will be Presley and Mavrik Delcambre

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff and nurses of Lourdes Hospice for their care and dedication to Mrs. Desormeaux during her final days.
