The Catholic High School baseball team traveled to New Iberia Senior High for a freshman team game on Monday, defeating the Yellow Jackets 7-5.
Luke Landry pitched two innings for the Panthers, recording 6 strikeouts. Landry also led the scoring for Catholic High with 2 runs from 1 chance at bat.
Allen Hamilton put in a strong performance from the mound for NISH, recording 6 strikeouts.
The Panthers dominated the game early, scoring two runs in the first and second innings to give Catholic High a strong lead. Uneventful third and fourth innings were followed by a back and forth fifth inning that saw Catholic High score 3 and NISH score 4.
The Panthers had previously faced a three game series against Acadiana over the weekend, which undoubtedly gave them the game experience needed to defeat NISH.
NISH is scheduled to face St. Thomas Moore on Tuesday. Catholic High will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Thibodaux to face E.D. White.
