On Sunday, Ty Spurlock and Telbia “TJ” Coughlin both signed letters of intent to continue their baseball careers with John Melvin University in Crowley.
Spurlock, a New Iberia native who plays both as a pitcher and infielder, currently plays for Lafayette High School. His baseball career began with the Iberia Athletic Association before moving to the Louisiana Canes. Spurlock is a four-year starter at Lafayette as well as a four-year all-state selection for the USSSA.
Coughlin also plays multiple positions, notably pitcher and center fielder.
His baseball career began at Evangeline Little League, followed by the Acadiana Rippers, Belle Place Middle, and now New Iberia Senior High School, where he has lettered for three years. Coughlin has also been featured on many all-tournament and showcase teams with the Canes.
