‘National Nannies’ need to stop saying what we can, cannot do

I just read Richard Phillips’ letter to the editor. His closing sentences stated, “Led by the city councils of South Central Louisiana the whole world bans smoking in bars after they ‘experienced’ (on T.V.) the effects of second hand smoke from burning buildings.”

I don’t like smoking, but I hate more the “national Nannies” who want to tell me and other adults what we should do and what we can’t do!

My hope is these “thou shall not folks” will ultimately lose in their efforts. They aren’t evil, but what I do in my home and my business is my business.

The good news, I believe, in a year or two, the Nannies will have gone too far and freedom loving people will push back.

Is it time the Nannies are denied freedoms that the rest of us enjoy? Do we need to pass a “mind your own business law?”

For the record, I’ve never smoked but I believe smoking is your choice not mine.

Homeowners and business owners should be able to decide the rules “under their own roof!”
