Lions continue to lead way, Forster grabs individual lead after second round of Southland Golf Tournament

MCKINNEY, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men’s golf team has a 13-shot lead while SLU’s Charlie Forster owns a one shot lead after the second round of the 2022 Southland Conference Men’s Golf Championship at Stonebridge Country Club (Dye Course).
Southeastern shot +4 for the day as it sits at +13 while second place Augusta is +26 for the first 36 holes.

Forster, a freshman, fired the lowest score of the second round shooting 68 (-4) with seven birdies, a bogey and a double bogey and is -2 for the tournament. The Lion newcomer is one shot ahead of Nicholls’ Ryan O’Neill, the Southland Golfer of the Month for March.
SLU’s Michael Landry, Logan Kuehn and Grayson Glorioso are in the hunt as well as each are in the top 11 of the individual standings.
Landry, out of LaPlace, Louisiana, is tied for fifth place with two others at +4. The sophomore shot 75 (+3) as he battled back after a shaky start. After double bogeys on the third and fifth holes, Landry rallied nicely shooting -1 over the final 13 holes.
Kuehn, a senior, turned in an even par 72 in his second round. The Lake Charles, Louisiana native is locked with two other players in eighth place at +5. The St. Louis Catholic High School grad finished the day with four birdies and four bogeys.
Glorioso is right behind Kuehn at +6 after 36 holes. The local product from Metairie, Louisiana had to fight through a tough stretch scoring a 77 (+5) for the round. After starting the first eight holes at -1, the Jesuit High School grad had to overcome three bogeys and a triple bogey before parring the final two holes.
The Lions will look to secure their fifth Southland Tournament Championship in school history, their first since 2014, Wednesday in the final round. Forster seeks to become the fifth Lion to win the individual championship, the first since 2013 when Rhys West clinched the title.
