City of New Iberia, local law enforcement claim no affiliation with L.E.A.D. organization

Local authorities is advising citizens that an organization that has been in the City of New Iberia and collecting donations has no affiliation with local law enforcement agencies.
The City of New Iberia, the New Iberia Police Department and the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office released a joint statement on Wednesday to declare that they are not affiliated with an organization called L.E.A.D (Law Enforcement Against Drugs).

Local authorities said that the organization has been in the City of New Iberia and has been collecting donations with the claim that they partner with law enforcement and school systems to provide leadership, resources and management.
Local authorities said that although the organization “does exist,” the donations collected are not being used to benefit the City of New Iberia, New Iberia Police Department, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office or the Iberia Parish School System.
“This organization has no affiliation with the New Iberia Police Department or the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. This organization has not provided any leadership, resources, or management to the New Iberia Police Department or the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office,” read the joint statement from area officials.
“We also reached out to the Iberia Parish School system. This organization has no affiliation, nor has it provided any leadership, resources, or management to the Iberia Parish School System,” the statement continued.
