A Broussard police officer was charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile in New Iberia, according to local authorities.
In a prepared statement on Tuesday, the Broussard Police Department identified Ryan Carlin, a 34-year-old resident of New Iberia, as the officer who was placed on administrative leave on April 4 after the department was notified of an investigation by the New Iberia Police Department.
New Iberia police said in a media release that investigators received a complaint on April 1 regarding an indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Carlin turned himself in at the New Iberia Police Department around 7 p.m. on Monday and was later booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
“As a leader in law enforcement, rest assured myself and my agency will always respect and cooperate with the criminal justice system in which we serve,” said Broussard Police Chief Vance Olivier in a prepared statement.
Carlin remains on leave at this time as the circumstances of his arrest and his current employment status are reviewed and considered by department administration, Broussard police said.
