Arrest made following shooting at local business

The New Iberia Police Department arrested a man in relation to shots fired at a local business Friday afternoon. 

According to a prepared statement, the NIPD responded to a report of shots fired in the area of West St. Peter and Corinne streets at 11:31 a.m.

After receiving multiple calls reporting the shots fired, responding officers determined the incident occurred at a local car dealership located in the 500 block of West St. Peter.

During the investigation, officers learned that a customer and the business owner were involved in a verbal altercation. During the altercation, the business owner reportedly produced a firearm and shot at the customer. The customer’s 2-year-old child and another individual were present when the incident occurred.
 
At the conclusion of the investigation, Justin Ross Nathan, 27-years-old, was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the charges of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (three counts), Illegal Discharge of a Weapon and Obstruction of Justice.
