Cypress Street to close for several weeks

Weather permitting, Cypress Street between Ashton and Dodson Streets will be closed for as many as 30 days as the City of Iberia will provide “street improvements” to the roadway starting Monday.
Residents in the area and passing motorists should expect occasional time delays and drivers will need to be cautious as the roadway will at times have oil and loose gravel.
Traffic may be limited and at times detoured during the road work. If detours are necessary, the city will provide signage redirecting traffic. The city also advises motorists to be cautious in the construction area for road work crews and equipment.
Residents walking or bicycling in the area are also advised to proceed with caution.
”Sorry to all for the inconvenience, but road improvements are here,” Mayor Freddie DeCourt said. “(Residents can) expect these improvements to continue through this year.”
DeCourt has recently begun sharing his ideas for a longer look for a future road improvement proposal later this year in hopes of continuing the city’s road improvement progress.
