LHSAA’s new Select/Non-Select list causes big shake-up throughout Louisiana

The LHSAA has released their unofficial alpha list of schools that will be classified as Select or Non-Select for the upcoming school year.

The list features quite a few teams that made the jump from one classification to the other following the LHSAA’s adoption of new definitions for select schools.

Based on the new definition, schools that are deemed as lab schools, magnet schools, charter schools, schools with magnet components, or parishes that allow open enrollment at all of its public schools will now join tuition-based schools in the select category.

Currently, there is no plan to redistrict based on the Select/Non-Select changes. Schools will have 15 days to submit an appeal to the LHSAA, which must include their reasoning behind their opposition.

Carencro

Comeaux

Edna Karr

Lafayette

Opelousas

Southside
