Daily Iberian obtains names of 18 cited for cockfighting, cruelty to animals

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office cited 18 area men for cockfighting and cruelty to animals on June 18.

Although the investigation is ongoing, The Daily Iberian has obtained the names and city of residence of the 18 people cited for cockfighting and cruelty to animal charges based on an investigation by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On the evening of June 18, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office observed suspicious activity occurring in the 2300 block of Main Hwy., in Cecilia, LA. Deputies subsequently detained and cited the following 18 individuals:

Paul Green, 26, Lafayette

Justin Melancon, 26, Lafayette

Johnny Boudreaux, 51, Abbeville

Johnathan Simmons, 50, Lafayette

Robert Jolivette, 56, Lafayette

Anthony Babineaux, 39, Lafayette

Willie Jackson, 65, Lafayette

Damon Gage, 44, Abbeville

Ernest Williams, 38, Lafayette

Myles Dugas, 20, Lafayette

Alexis Benoit, 47, Duson

Cornelius Stevens, 41, Lafayette

Jordon Hanks, 34, Lafayette

Tyler Alexander, 32, Carencro

Jared Helaire, 31, Breaux Bridge

Colby Thomas, 20 Lafayette

Lesley Barber, 27, Jennings

All individuals were released on a citation on the charges of cockfighting and cruelty to animals.
