2nd chance job fair July 6

Published 4:31 pm Saturday, July 2, 2022

In an effort to help those who are re-entering the community from prison, the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC) will host a Second Chance Job and Resource Fair on Wednesday.

Upon release, formerly incarcerated individuals face many challenges including bills, transportation, employment, medical issues and child support. The purpose of Wednesday’s event is to provide these individuals with a one-stop-shop with resources including job prospects and programming to help them stay out of jail.

Local employment recruiters will be available to accept applications from potential workers. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Louisiana Workforce Commission will also have representatives at the event to help with SNAP benefits, Medicaid, and employment opportunities.
