New Iberia Police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting along East Admiral Doyle Drive Tuesday night.

Once on the scene, police discovered the victim was taken by a citizen to the hospital. The victim was later stabilized and airlifted to a Lafayette hospital in critical condition.

After reviewing video footage and speaking with witnesses, detectives determined the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation moments before the shooting. The details surrounding the altercation are currently unknown.

The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Raphael DePass. DePass’ last known address is in New Iberia. Arrest warrants have been issued for DePass on two counts of attempted first degree murder, illegal carrying of weapons, illegal use of weapons and possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone (near New Iberia Senior High).

The investigation is ongoing.
