The New Iberia City Council will vote to adopt a change in the minor curfew laws at Tuesday’s council meeting.
The council will vote to conform city laws with state laws by changing the age of a minor from 17 to 18. Currently, the city ordinance states children up to 17 can’t be without a guardian or caretaker in public between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays and midnight to 5 a.m. on weekends. The change would simply increase the age to 18.
In other business, the council will vote to declare several New Iberia Police Department vehicles as surplus and vote to sell the vehicles to the City of St. Martinville and City of Abbeville for no less than $20,000.
The council will also vote to approve an ordinance amending the budget to reflect funding to the New Iberia Civic Center Marina Project and New Iberia CVA Pumpout grant.
Both projects have long been in the works and are being planned to increase infrastructure on the Bayou Teche for boating in downtown New Iberia.
The council will vote to award a contract to Coastal Timbers for the marina project as well.
The meeting takes place 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Iberia City Hall.
