The fountain at the New Iberia Civic Center will be turned black to kickoff Saturday's New Iberia Halloween Parade.

The New Iberia Halloween Parade kicks off this Saturday, with an expanded agenda that will see the event grow into much more than just a parade.

Now in its second year, the parade was initially conceived to bring a local flair to Halloween activities in Iberia Parish, and along with the lineup of spooky characters and candy, this year’s event will also see live music and food vendors.

The event begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Iberia Civic Center, where Mayor Freddie DeCourt will turn the fountain at the center black in celebration of the Halloween holiday.

Following that, the parade kicks off in downtown New Iberia, and event-goers can find a spot on either side of Main Street to watch the procession pass through.

The fun will continue at 6 p.m., where the Chee-Weez are slated to play at Bouligny Plaza in the Steamboat Warehouse Pavilion. Food vendors will also be available.
