New Iberia celebrated the opening of Halloween festivities Saturday with a color changing at the New Iberia Civic Center’s fountain in front of City Hall.
To kick off the New Iberia Halloween parade, Mayor Freddie DeCourt offered a brief welcome to the dozens of children and parents in attendance and quickly released the color dye into the water to give the fountain a spookier feel for Halloween holiday.
The Halloween parade, now in its second year, is kicked off by a color changing at the fountain thanks to help from the New Iberia Marching Men, who also change the water color during St. Patrick’s Day.
Children, adults and even DeCourt put on Halloween attire to enjoy the parade, which rolled through Main Street and was followed later in the day by live music and food vendors.
