Life Grief Support Ministry gave back to the community Saturday by distributing gumbo on Hopkins Street.
Rosalind Bobb with the non-profit organization said the event was a way for the organization to leave a positive impact in the area. Volunteers set up a tent on Hopkins shortly after Saturday’s rainfall, which allowed those walking nearby to easily pick up a bowl.
“We just wanted to do something for the community,” Bobb said.
Life Grief Support Ministry performs crucial work in New Iberia by providing support to the families of people who have died. The organization has been active for seven years in New Iberia, and was formed after Bobb’s son succumbed to gun violence.
Since then, Bobb said the organization has helped dozens of people who have similar stories.
