- More recreational equipment for the splash pad at West End Park was part of the Phase II upgrades.
The splash pad at West End Park is bigger and more colorful thanks to the completion of Phase II of the project.
The New Iberia City Council accepted the substantial completion of the splash pad upgrades, which include more recreational equipment for children to enjoy during the warmer weather.
“It’s big and it’s fun to see it turned on,” Mayor Freddie DeCourt said at the Nov. 1 meeting where the resolution was accepted.
Construction work for the project was approved earlier in the summer, but project coordinators decided to hold off until the start of the new school year to begin upgrading the splash pad area.
The project is one of several that has been recently approved to upgrade West End Park infrastructure and quality. A mural inside the Martin Luther King Jr. facility was also recently completed depicting local and national figures.
