- Mayor Freddie DeCourt, seen here speaking to the New Iberia Kiwanis Club regarding a city roads repair proposition on November's ballot that citizens defeated in a close vote, wants to speak with citizens about their votes ... especially no votes.
Just 10 days after New Iberia voters turned down a proposition to fund road projects in the city for the next 20 years, Mayor Freddie DeCourt is once again taking his fight for the proposal straight to the people.
On Friday, DeCourt’s office announced the mayor will be in front of City Hall to meet with citizens of New Iberia concerning the recent road tax/reallocation of existing millage which was defeated by only 133 votes starting on Tuesday Nov. 29.
All are invited, but the City stresses the invitation is especially for those out there that voted No on the roads proposal on Nov. 8. In a press release, the mayor’s office says it wants public input moving forward to develop a plan of action creating a long-range plan for future road improvement programs.
You can find Mayor DeCourt in front of City Hall Nov. 29, 30, and Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
