NIPD officers distribute gifts to children in the Lil' Brooklyn area Wednesday. 

Police lights heading through downtown New Iberia were there to bring some good cheer Wednesday as members of the New Iberia Police Department brought gifts for children at various New Iberia locations.

Officers dressed in holiday attire and boarded a float that started at Main Street and ventured to several destinations to distribute gifts to children early Wednesday morning as part of annual NIPD tradition.

Children of all ages excitedly accepted gifts that were distributed by officers while Christmas music blared.

NIPD members set out to various New Iberia locations as part of the event, including the Lil’ Brooklyn area where they temporarily closed the road to let local residents head out to the street and accept dolls and other toys.
