The New Iberia City Council had a unique meeting Monday when they took city government on the road with a trolley that toured the city.

The purpose of the tour was for council members to survey each district with Mayor Freddie DeCourt to discuss upcoming projects and programs.

DeCourt said due to state sunshine laws, the tour was formed into a council meeting. The trolley made its way to several parts of the city that were of concern for each member of the city council and their six districts.

Council members Marlon Lewis, Brooke Marcotte, Deedy Johnson-Reid, Deidre Ledbetter and Dustin Suire all made the trip along with legal counsel Jeff Simon as part of the unique way to survey the state of city infrastructure.
