The Shadows Bend Rosary Group celebrated their third anniversary since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic Monday with a Mass held in the garage of Glenn and Julie Oubre.
The Rev. Don Bernard, pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church, set up the altar and donned his priest robes as about 50 residents of the neighborhood brought lawn chairs in the garage for the observance.
The Shadows Bend Rosary Group started during the pandemic as a way to alleviate the suffering happening during that time. The initial purpose of the group was to pray for the world during the pandemic.
The group gathered Monday as part of an observance of the Lenten season. Children, parents and neighbors mingled together before Bernard finally took to the front of the garage to begin the prayers to start the Mass.
