The Aquinas Institue is offering three courses for local Catholics during the summer in a variety of subjects.
The institute’s summer 2023 courses will run from May 30 to July 28 and will offer courses in Theology of the Bible, New Testament and Biblical Theology and College Latin for Theology I.
The Theology of the Bible will read and study the series of teachings from Pope John Paul II and review areas of his work that deal with love and responsibility as well as practical applications in marriage and family life.
New Testament and Biblical Theology will study the theology, history and literary forms of the New Testament, reflecting on the gospels, Pauline epistles and other New Testament writings.
College Latin for Theology will give an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the Latin language. The course will present the essential forms, vocabulary and syntax of classical and medieval Latin, and will develop the basic ability to read Latin.
The Aquinas Lafayette is the only place of higher learning in Acadiana that offers local academic formation in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
As an extension of the University of Holy Cross, the institute offers undergraduate and graduate level courses taught by local faculty members. While being a unified academic program, Aquinas Lafayette offers several dimensions of education, according to a prepared statement.
