- Gov.-elect Jeff Landry announced a new website and application portal for his transition team to better communicate with interested residents in the coming weeks.
Governor-elect Jeff Landry said he was steadily continuing the transition process by opening up a website and online application portal during his second press conference held Wednesday morning.
Speaking at the Russo Building at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Landry said the general election win in October has given his transition team more time than usual to “get things right” for when he takes over the governor’s seat in Baton Rouge and he is not wasting that opportunity.
“Some may say we’re moving a little slow, but I can promise you it’s in order to get this right,” Landry said. “We’ve got some time; we’re going to slowly start picking up speed to get this full transition team put together.”
The press event came a day after Landry had announced 14 transition councils and their chairs. Those included agriculture, coast and management, constitutional reform, crime and public safety, economic development, healthcare, education, infrastructure and even a New Orleans council.
Some of the council chairs were names familiar to the Teche Area, including former St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier and current St. Martinville Mayor Jason Willis, who will be serving as co-chairs on the local and municipal affairs council.
Landry’s objective during Wednesday morning’s conference was to announce the creation of a transition team website, www.oneteam.la. The website is named after Landry’s theme of “One Team, One Dream, One Louisiana” and said the site state residents will be able to find transition team information, press releases and a space to share ideas.
“We want to make Louisiana the best it can be, and this is only done with the help of everyone out there,” Landry said.
The governor-elect also announced an application portal on the website for those seeking a job in the future administration.
Landry said he wanted a team “comprised of great people around the state and everywhere” who want to work on his team.
“No matter your party affiliation, if you’re interested in working with us we want to hear from you,” Landry said. We have a lot of positions that are going to open up and we look forward to hearing from everyone.”
