A celebration of life for TyAsia Smith will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the commencement of the celebration on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette.
TyAsia will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette.
TY, as she was affectionately known, was a native of Jeanerette and a resident of Beaumont, Texas. She departed this life at 6:04 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, surrounded by family.
TyAsia was born on Friday, September 15, 2000, to Tasha Smith and Huey Nora Jr. She attended several different churches. TyAsia loved to shop, it was her happy place. She was a graduate of Jeanerette Sr. High School class of 2018. She furthered her education at Remington College and graduated in 2020 in Pharmacy Tech.
She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted mother Tasha Smith and her father Huey Nora Jr.; five sisters, T’Ceona Nora of Beaumont, Texas, Tre’Jahnea Smith of Beaumont, Texas, Jaliyah Wheeler of Dallas, Texas, Jamia Wheeler of North Fort, Virginia, and Miracle Baldwin of Jeanerette; one brother, Kartez Charles of St. Martinville; maternal grandparents Jennifer W. and Donald Burns of New Iberia, Wayne Sr. and Detra G. Smith of Jeanerette; paternal grandparents Patsy Nora and Huey Nora Sr. of Loreauville; Godparents Tina Gilliams of New Iberia and Kamien Williams of Lafayette; one Godchild, Zoey Carter of Beaumont, Texas; five aunts, Chanetta (David Sr.) Dickerson of Beaumont, Texas, Shimyra Nora of Houston, Texas, Shenekia Nora of Loreauville, Justine (Jody) Richard of Jeanerette, Nicole (Paul) Burns of Baton Rouge; five uncles, Wayne (Javashia) Smith Jr. of Odessa, Texas, Quan (Shanna) Lyons of Jeanerette, Jeremy (Javaisha) Guy of Jeanerette, Jamal Burns of New Iberia and Iman Burns of Brooklyn, New York; one great-grandfather Warren Albert Smith of Jeanerette; twenty great-aunts; fourteen great-uncles.
TyAsia joined in glory her great-grandparents Roger and Nancy A. Williams Sr., Willie Mae T. Smith, Joseph Willis and Lilie Mae Wiltz Willis; one uncle, Shawnathan Joseph Nora; five great-aunts, five great-uncles and many other relatives too numerous to name.
