SULPHUR – The Episcopal School of Acadiana swim teams added two more state swim meet trophies to the Falcon’s trophy cabinet this week as the girls team picked up a third-straight Division IV state title and the boys team earned state runners-up honors.

The Falcons, who advanced several athletes after strong showings at the Division IV prelims on Wednesday, finished off the season by setting several new personal and team records en route to the stellar finishes.

Several ESA athletes earned individual medals for their performances. Sophomores Jiya Lodha (3rd in 200-yard IM, 3rd in 100-yard breaststroke) and Bella Bourque (3rd in 50-yard freestyle, 3rd in 100-yard butterfly) impressed for the girls team while senior Owen Broussard (2nd in 100-yard breaststroke, 3rd in 50-yard freestyle) led the scoring for the boys.

The Falcons also relied on their middle school athletes to add crucial points at the state meet. Multiple 7th and 8th grade swimmers earned top-10 finishes in both the preliminaries and finals.

The Catholic High swim team also performed well at the state meet. The 200-yard medley relay team of Brock Anthony, Ryker Jolet, Brent Breaux and Daniel Trooter finished in 9th place while senior Brent Breaux earned a 10th place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.
