Iberia schools announce Principals of the Year

The Iberia Parish School Board presented awards to two groups of administrators at Wednesday’s board meeting that honored some of the best principals and assistant principals in the area.

Superintendent of Schools Heath Hulin announced the outgoing principals and assistant principals of the year for the current year as well as the newly selected principals and assistant principals of the year that will represent the 2024 school year.

Hulin said each group was selected and honored by their peers in the Iberia Principals Association. Awards for elementary, middle and high school were distributed into three separate categories.

For the 2024 year, Ashley Lewis, Dwalyn Jackson and Jennifer Regard were selected as the Principals of the Year. Lewis is principal of Johnston-Hopkins Elementary, Jackson is principal of Anderson Middle School and Regard is principal at the Iberia Parish Career Center.

Assistant Principals of the Year were Annie Barras, Emily Dupre and Dana Lancon. Barras is assistant principal of North Lewis Elementary, Dupre is assistant principal at Iberia Middle School and Lancon is principal at Delcambre High School.

The outgoing Principals of the Year were Jodi Romero, Dina Bourque and Neely Moore, representing Delcambre Elementary, Iberia Middle School and Westgate High School respectively.

Outgoing Assistant Principals of the Year included Leslie Hebert, Brad Judice and Cory Segura representing Loreauville Elementary, Iberia Middle School and Delcambre High School respectively.

“Without these administrators we could not do the things we do for our children without their leadership,” Hulin said.
