Funeral services will be held for Barbara Mouton Comeaux, 71, of New Iberia, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Evangeline Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Neel of Our Savior’s Church will officiate. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Southwest LA Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, privately at a later date.
The family requests that visitation be observed from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday.
Barbara was an active member of the Lady Jane’s, a testament to her commitment to community and friendship. She served as a rural postal delivery person with the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years, contributing to the daily lives of countless individuals in her community. Barbara was also a proud member of the DAV auxiliary, embodying her dedication to supporting veterans and their families.
In addition to her community service Barbara found joy in spending time outdoors with her husband at the camp, where she especially enjoyed fishing. Her love for the outdoors mirrored her passion for quilting and sewing, activities she embraced with friends at Emily’s Closet.
She is survived by her daughter Stacy Landry (Matt); her son Linden Comeaux Jr. (Kelli); and her daughter Christy Comeaux (Jake Hebert). She is also survived by her sister Dolores Navarre (Larry); and her cherished grandchildren Hayden Louviere, Rylee Comeaux, Luke Comeaux, Emerson Landry, Alex Comeaux, Breaker Landry and Hope Hebert.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Linden Comeaux Sr.; her infant son; her father Dorris Francis Mouton; and her mother Nita Menard. She was also preceded by her sister Rosa Belle LaGrange; and her brother Pierre Junius Mouton.
The family appreciates the love and support from friends and community members during this difficult time. May Barbara rest in eternal peace and may her legacy of love, service and shared moments in the great outdoors be remembered by all who were touched by her warmth and kindness.
