Substantial upgrades to West End Park have recently been completed for the park’s baseball field and tennis court.
The New Iberia City Council finalized the substantial completion of the upgrades earlier this month, which included a new fence and new dugout for the baseball field along with striping and coating.
A new lighting system with LED lighting was also installed along with new poles for the lighting. Architect David Allain said the system could be scheduled by Parks and Recreation to light the field at any time and also takes no time to warmup due to the city using LED lights.
Revamped tennis courts were also completed, with the courts also being able to be used for pickleball.
New fencing was also part of the upgrades to the park. Allain said the contractor for the project installed new chain link fencing at no extra cost because they felt it would turn out better that way.
Future work is scheduled for December. Landscapers will be adding more trees to the tree line at West End Park, Allain said.
