J’s Barber College strives to help students become independent and professional barber stylists and promote healthy habits. At J’s Barber College, we envision broadening the intellect of our students in the art of barbering and hair design with vigorous science applications that will provide an effective, innovative, and rewarding career. The mission of J’s Barber College is to provide a positive learning environment that allows all students to develop quality post-secondary barbering education that prepares the graduates for licensure and job entry-level skills for success in the workplace. J’s Barber College offers Title IV funding to students who qualify. The college partners with the Louisiana Rehabilitation Program to provide assistance to the students. Veteran assistance is offered to help defray the cost of Barbering Program. The college provides free community haircuts to local nursing homes, homeless shelters, and low-income clients from the area apartments. Veterans receive a discount. J’s Barber College partners with the local sorority and fraternities to provide free haircuts for school-age students. The school visits the area high schools on Career Day to promote the Barbering Program and Barber Instructor Program. The school partners with the local high school vocational Barbering Program to enhance the content lessons learned and to provide free haircuts to the high school students. The students occasionally visit the Boys and Girls Club to assist with their after-school programs. Excellent instruction in the barbering field will be provided by Milady’s textbook, lectures, video presentations, and technological programs, the use of demonstrations, and practical hands-on training. J’s unique scientific approach to education brings into play the concept of art and science within a sound educational foundation. Art and science are used to develop the curriculum for teaching in a manner that produces highly competent and creative designers. The J’s Barber College goal is to improve student achievement and provide small group and individualized instruction. J’s Barber College provides a safe environment conducive to the learning process where all students can learn and become productive and socially responsible citizens. Students will be able to identify areas of improvement by systematically providing self-assessment of their developmental progress. J’s Barber College will continue to provide ways to strengthen, maintain, and monitor programs that support a healthy, safe, and diverse student population.
