LOREAUVILLE—A private graveside service will be held for Mr. Floyd Joseph Broussard at St. Joseph Cemetery in Loreauville. Mr. Broussard passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette.

Mr. Floyd, a native and lifelong resident of the picturesque town of Loreauville, was a beloved figure known for his dedication to his community and his unique contributions to its well-being. For 28 years he served as a delivery truck driver for Teche Lumber, becoming an integral part of the local workforce.

Beyond his professional commitments, Floyd’s true passion lay in the simple pleasures of life and his commitment to making Loreauville a better place. His three-wheeled bicycle was a familiar sight on the town’s roads, as he embarked on his personal mission to keep the streets clean. With a commitment to both exercise and environmental responsibility, Floyd took joy in collecting cans along his routes.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, residents would leave cans for him to pick up, turning his endeavor into a shared effort to beautify the town. Through this public service Mr. Floyd not only kept himself active, but also forged countless connections, making friends with those who appreciated his efforts to maintain a clean and pleasant environment.

What set Mr. Floyd apart was his outgoing nature. He had an innate ability to strike up conversations with anyone he encountered and he never met a stranger. This friendly demeanor endeared him to the hearts of Loreauville’s residents, creating a sense of unity and camaraderie within the community.

Floyd’s legacy extends beyond his professional career. It is woven into the fabric of Loreauville’s history as a testament to the power of individual initiative and community bonds. His commitment to a cleaner, friendlier town and his warm, open-hearted approach to people have left an indelible mark on the collective memory of Loreauville.

He is survived by his brother Ronnie Broussard and wife Edia of Loreauville; nephew Donavan Broussard and wife Natalie of Loreauville; niece Jamie Salsman and husband Kevin of New Iberia; great-nephew Cullen Broussard of Youngsville; and great -great-nephew Miller Anthony Broussard of Youngsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Dewey Broussard and Elia Girouard Broussard.
