In the spirit of giving and the holiday season, a local program is helping to establish good will among those in Iberia Parish.
The program, called “Acadiana Fund Giving,” is aimed to help both local businesses and nonprofit organizations raise money.
Any organization that helps to sell a program gets money to go towards their organization. With that, the local businesses get exposure, too, with their discounted coupons that are part of the Acadiana Fund Giving.
For $25, you are given a tin of coupons with a value of over $300 to local businesses in and around Iberia parish. Each coupon is good for a whole calendar year in 2024.
The program was started by Brett Lang in December of this year.
“There are 25 discount cards in a tin with over $300 of savings,” Lang said. “It’s a variety of businesses in Iberia Parish that when a person buys a tin, they get all of the cards. So if you use a card three times, you get your money back plus some.”
Currently, the Teche Cafe, the Main Cup, Church Alley Cafe and Gonsoulin Land and Cattle are selling the tins at their store fronts.
Lang said the Acadiana Fund Giving is the perfect Christmas gift for someone, with discounts on food, audio, automotive, home, pest and much more.
“Stuff people can use,” Lang said.
Being a part of the Acadiana Fund Giving gives local businesses an edge in driving engagement with locals. It’s tangible evidence that they are here and ready to serve all of Iberia Parish.
“If the food is good, if the service is good, then they have customers for life,” Lang said. “If I have a coupon and I like it, I am still going to go if I have a coupon or not.”
Lang said the idea of the Acadiana Fund Giving came to him when he noticed the same efforts were being done in other parishes, while helping raise money for his son and his football team at New Iberia Senior High. He wanted to help drive business to Iberia Parish.
“I told myself I can do that and keep the businesses here,” Lang said. “People are buying them and they are going to spend the money in Lafayette Parish. Why not do it here?”
Lang said he is always looking to help his communities anyway he can. And with the Acadiana Fund Giving, he is able to do just that.
“It’s a way for me to give back,” Lang said. “It’s a win-win for everybody.”
