- Beezy Soul Food offers a wide variety of food plates. Owner Keith Fontenette, Jr. offers meals from baked chicken, red beans, finger foods and more.
Beezy Soul Food, LLC owner Keith Fontenette, Jr. fell in love with cooking in 2018, and, since then, has pursued his passion.
Fontenette was born and raised in New Iberia, and on Dec. 19 2018, his birthday, he opened his own food service business, Beezy Soul Food, selling food out of his home to the community.

Fontenette noticed one thing that everyone had in common: eating. And cooking for others was a natural thing for him. Seeing his two role models, his mom and dad, cook, it was only a matter of time for Fontenette that he did it, too.
“Growing up I used to watch my mom and dad cook all the time,” Fontenette said. “Some days she would cook, some days he would cook, and when I was growing up as a kid, I wanted to do that,” Fontenette said. “I wanted to cook like them.”
Before he opened Beezy’s, a childhood nickname of his by everyone, Fontenette was searching for what he wanted to do. Without a clear path in mind, he just followed his heart. He’s currently a well known DJ and in the 337 area everyone knows him as DJ Beezy.
“I opened up my restaurant because I wanted to pursue my dreams, because I love cooking,” Fontenette said. “That is my heart. My heart is cooking.”
Beezy Soul Food offers everything; anything you request, he can make. From Thanksgiving meals, to baked chicken, red beans, finger foods and more, Fontenette’s catering business has you covered, all served as a plate lunch.
He sells his plate lunches Tuesday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“I offer catering, and anything they want,” Fontenette said. “Anything they want, I will cook for them.”
And for two or more plate lunches, they offer delivery for $5. He takes cash, Cash App and credit or debit cards.
Currently, Fontenette and his fiancée take orders outside of their home, cooking and catering each and every meal they get.
From New Iberia to Broussard and all the way to Baldwin, Fontenette said people come far and wide to eat his food, and each interaction, each experience he has with a new customer, is what keeps him going.
“I love providing for my community, I love meeting new people,” Fontenette said. “And I love experimenting with new things.”
Fontenette runs Beezy Soul Food as a full time profession. It allows him to work and do what he loves, and it’s something he is constantly looking to do in the future. He wants to take his catering on wheels, investing in a food truck, and down the line, opening his own restaurant.
“I want to get a food truck, so I can go everywhere,” Fontenette said. “I hopefully can open my own restaurant, where everyone can come in and enjoy themselves and my food.”
Getting to serve his community, showing his heart on his plate, not just his sleeve, Fontenette said he is grateful for the opportunities to do something meaningful for others, and himself.
“I am able to show others what means the most to me,” Fontenette said. “Serving others.”
