JEANERETTE—A Mass of Christian burial was conducted for Gerald “Pop” Hebert Sr., 83, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Albert Alexander officiating. Entombment followed at Beau Pre’s Mausoleum.

Visitation was held from noon until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 and resumed from 8 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. A Rosary was prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Gerald “Pop” Hebert Sr., was born on March 30, 1940, to Bennett and Odette Faucheaux Hebert in Charenton.

Pop passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters.

A man of unwavering work ethic, Pop dedicated 36 years of his life to Diamond M Drilling, leaving an indelible mark as a skilled driller. His devotion extended beyond the rig, as he cherished his family deeply, finding joy in the laughter and love shared with his children and grandchildren.

Outside of the rig Pop found solace in the great outdoors, reveling in camping and fishing adventures. A connoisseur of Western culture, his downtime was often spent immersed in his favorite TV show, “Gun Smoke.” Pop’s magnetic sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him, with a joke always at the ready to brighten the day. His catchphrase, “Who’s skinning this cat—me or you”, echoed in the hearts of those who loved him. Though Pop has departed, his laughter, love and enduring spirit will forever resonate, eternally engraved in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.

Mr. Gerald is survived by his children Todd D. Hebert (Melissa) of Venton, Ted A. Hebert of Starks, Bennett A.
