A home-going celebration for Mrs. Joyce Mae Barlow, 80, the former Joyce Mae Williams was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Church of Jesus Christ, 131 W. Pershing Street, New Iberia with Rev. Joseph Noah III, celebrant.

She will await the resurrection at Church of Jesus Christ Cemetery, Chaisson Road, New Iberia.

A visitation was held from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the funeral home.

Joyce transitioned at 1:52 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Iberia Medical Center.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Curtis J. Barlow Sr. of Freetown; one son, Wilbert Simon Jr. (Karen) of Freetown; seven daughters, Wanda Simon King and Melissa Simon Compton (Marcus) of Carencro, Melta Simon Captain (Michael) and Lillian Stovall of Scott, Alexes Simon Jones (Victor) of Lafayette, Judy Simon of Alexandria and Rose Simon of Jeanerette; one stepdaughter, Lela Barlow of Katy, Texas; one stepson, Curtis Barlow Jr. of Houston, Texas; one sister, Linda Williams Alfred of Lafayette; one special sister-in-law, Linda Patricia Williams; twenty-one grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Williams and Lillian Montgomery Williams; grandson Matthew D. Captain; two brothers, Paul Frank Williams and Hubert Joseph Williams; son-in-law Jules King; sister-in-law Elta Mae Williams; and one brother-in-law, Stafford Alfred.

Active pallbearers are Nicklaus Simon, Kyle Simon, Michael Captain Jr., Jonathan Linden, Raymond Linden III and Braylon Compton.

Honorary pallbearers are Wilbert Simon Jr., Michael Captain Sr., Marcus Compton, Toddre’ Linden, Jamal Stovall, Wilbert W. Simon III, Victor Jones, Jalon Compton, Kaizer Simon and Mickayla Captain Mouton.
