Mardi Gras parades in the Teche Area

Mardi Gras season is fast approaching in the Teche Area, with several parade events scheduled to take place in Iberia and St. Mary parishes over the forthcoming weeks.

The Bayou Mardi Gras Association will once again be kicking off the Mardi Gras season in Acadiana with the first parade of the year being held on Jan. 26. The parade is put on by the Bayou Mardi Gras Association and has become one of the largest and most popular parades in Iberia Parish since it first began in 2017. The event will take place in downtown New Iberia with the usual parade route that spans Main Street and includes floats, marching bands and much more.

Jeanerette will be bringing the next parade on Feb. 4 with the Krewe of Ezana’s annual Mardi Gras Parade that takes place down Main Street. Event-goers will be able to line up on either side of Main Street in Jeanerette and includes Canal Street, Pellerin Street and Martin Luther King Drive as part of the route.

On Feb. 13, Loreauville will have its turn in the spotlight as the Papa Red Dog Mardi Gras Parade rolls through downtown with music, dance groups and marching bands included.

The Franklin Mardi Gras Parade will also be rolling on Feb. 13. The parade is one of the largest in St. Mary Parish and also includes floats, marching bands and plenty of throws for kids of all ages. The parade begins at Franklin Senior High and proceeds to downtown Franklin.

The Baldwin Mardi Gras Parade will take place on Feb. 10, beginning on Louisiana 182 (Main Street) at the Sager-Brown facility and continue down Main Street until the route turns left on Martin Luther King Boulevard, turning right on Bollard Street and ending at the Baldwin Community Center.

The Cypremort Point Parade is slated to take place the same day at 1 p.m. as well.
