A native and resident of Jeanerette, Melinda A. Collins passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at her residence in Jeanerette.

Melinda is a woman whose heart is as vast and untamed as the wilderness she so deeply cherished. Melinda’s life was a testament to her profound love for the outdoors, and alongside the love of her life Englove Collins Jr., she embarked on countless adventures immersed in nature’s beauty. Their shared passion for camping, hunting, fishing, shrimping and crabbing wove a tapestry of memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew them. Melinda and Englove’s bond with the great outdoors was not only a reflection of their shared interests but a testament to the enduring strength of their love. She never would turn anyone away who was in need. She always had an open door to anyone.

Beyond her love for the wilderness, Melinda found immense joy in being a devoted mother to her three sons. Her nurturing spirit extended to her role as a grandmother, where she took great delight in spoiling her grandchildren with affection and warmth. Melinda’s legacy is one of love, laughter and the indelible mark she left on the lives of her family. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we hold onto the memories of a life well-lived and the enduring love that radiated from her, encompassing both the vast outdoors and the cherished moments spent with family.

Melinda is survived by her husband Englove Collins Jr.; her son Justin Collins and his wife Katelyn; two grandsons, Ayden Collins and Colton Collins; and one granddaughter, Aubrey Collins; siblings Susan Cole and husband Travis, Arlene Boutte and Brad Migues.

She was preceded in death by her two sons, Joshua Collins and Shaun Collins; parents Relius and Adeline Rome Migues.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ayden Collins, Chris Migues, Chuck Migues, David Moresi Jr., Shelton Boutte Jr., Christopher Collins, Danny Migues and Mitchell Migues.
