A native and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Hebert passed away at 12:14 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a year long battle with cancer.
Chi Chi was an avid reader with a passion for literature that enriched her life and those around her. She found solace and inspiration within the pages of countless books, sharing the knowledge she gained with friends and family.
Chi Chi enjoyed the thrill of the casino and the excitement of the poker machines, but she also found joy in the simple pleasures of camping. Grand Isle’s Bridgeside Marina, in particular, held a special place in her heart, where she reveled in the beauty of the coastal landscape and the serenity of the gulf. She enjoyed fishing, spending time in the boat and reading on the beach. But most of all she cherished creating memories with her husband, children and grandchildren. Their laughter, shared stories and the bonds they forged were the foundation of her happiness. Her love for family created a warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Chi Chi will be remembered not only for her strong work ethic but also for the passion and zest with which she embraced life’s varied experiences. After working many years with her family at both Fitch’s Drive Inn and Dago’s Mobil, Mrs. Hebert worked seasonally for M A Patout and Ouachita Fertilizer.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure and cherished memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty and serenity that mirrored the joy she brought to the world.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Rudy Hebert of Jeanerette; three children, Lisa Hebert of Jeanerette, Craig Hebert and wife Abbie of Jeanerette and Katie Bouillion and husband Brad of Jeanerette; seven grandchildren, Lanie, Emily (Da’Vonne), Elise, Reed, Mina, Reese, and Bennett; and three siblings, Kathy Landry (Gerry), Mona Hebert (Norman) and R P “Paul” Fitch.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rillius and Kathleen Fitch Jr.; and a brother-in-law Barry Boudreaux.
The family would like to thank the staff of Iberia Medical Center for their compassionate care of Mrs. Hebert.
